Who is it for?

Cancer GPS is a non-profit dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families navigate their cancer journey. Getting chemotherapy—even in the best of circumstances—can be overwhelming, exhausting, and emotionally taxing.

VRELAX is designed for:

  • Cancer patients actively receiving treatment who need distraction and relief during infusions.
  • Families and caregivers who want their loved ones to feel comfort and calm during difficult times.
  • Healthcare providers and cancer centers searching for innovative, patient-centered approaches to improve the treatment experience.

Our VR program is changing how patients experience chemotherapy—transforming hours in an infusion chair into moments of peace, adventure, and hope.

What is it?

VRELAX uses the Meta Quest 2 platform to deliver fully immersive virtual reality experiences. Patients can choose from a wide range of options—from space exploration to watching wild elephants in the African savannah—each designed to transport them away from the stress of treatment and into a world of calm, wonder, and imagination.

We are continually expanding our content library through the Bucket List Project. This initiative allows patients to recommend experiences they’ve always dreamed of, which we then develop into VR journeys—making the impossible possible, virtually.

How does it work?

  • Simple setup: A lightweight headset is provided to patients during their infusion sessions.
  • Personalized choice: Patients can select experiences based on their mood or interest.
  • Supportive tool: Patients often share that VR helps them feel calmer, more relaxed, and less focused on their treatment. VRELAX is designed to provide this sense of relief and positive distraction while undergoing chemotherapy

The program is supported by trained volunteers and staff who ensure patients feel comfortable, safe, and empowered while using the technology.
